Technology has changed the way this world works. We don’t write letters anymore - we send emails, or we log into an instant messenger, or we type little words into our pocket-sized phones and beam them to one another. We don’t pick up a copy of the daily news, because we can read a thousand different newspapers online at the click of a button. Children’s lives are becoming increasingly net-centric, and if educators don’t adjust accordingly they’ll be left behind as surely as rotary dial phones and typewriters.
By integrating the use of wiki's, blogs and podcasting into your classroom, students are given opportunities that are rich in realistic context to enhance their learning. Student's are interested in the internet. This is why we should utilise this and allow the opportunity for rich learning to occur through this medium.

Initial Ideas

Each of us have decided to choose a topic where we can research it further. We will have access to each others blogs to add comments if we want.

Mel will be researching podcasting and how they can be used within the classroom to enhance children's learning as well as an overview on the negative side of podcasting.

Leah will be researching Wikis

Maryanne will be researching blogging and critique the positives and negatives of blogging in the classroom.
